Happy New Year!<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re all really happy to be back at school for another packed year!<\/p>\n

Looking back, Rookie Rockstars came to the school in early November. This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to showcase their singing and dancing talents while also learning valuable lessons. The whole school came together and participated in a unique and fun learning experience which tackled anti-bullying, and promoted confidence, self-esteem, and positive friendships. Peyton said, \u2018It was fun because we came together to dance and sing in front of our parents and family.\u2019<\/p>\n

Teejay found the whole experience really enjoyable, \u2018My favourite parts were the penguin dance and challenge time.\u2019 Alexa liked learning the new songs and having fun!<\/p>\n

Jacob B. liked the song \u2018Bullies Ain\u2019t Big\u2019 especially. He said, \u2018I felt like it was a really great song to encourage people not to bully.\u2019 Noah particularly liked the song, \u2018Hey, Hey, I\u2019m OK!\u2019 He said, \u2018I liked the chorus because when I sang it, it helped me to feel that I\u2019m OK.\u2019<\/p>\n

Christmas Fun!<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The children chose what they wanted to tell you all about in their Newsletter-<\/p>\n

Jacob Le V. \u2018liked having a wee shot of putting tattoos on people\u2019 at the Christmas Fayre, while Lily \u2018loved buying things for my family.\u2019<\/p>\n

Millie said she, \u2018liked when I bought Heidi a gift\u2019 and Bella, \u2018bought loads of nice things for people.\u2019<\/p>\n

Art and crafts were great fun around Christmas. The children were very proud of their salt dough \u2018baubles\u2019 they made. They wrote a super set of instructions for other children to follow.<\/p>\n

They also designed their own Kandinsky tree with colourful baubles. Jacob P. said that he liked making these trees because he liked how \u2018Kandinsky colour mixed to make different colours.\u2019 Skye stated that she, \u2018liked designing the trees however we wanted and had fun with it.\u2019<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Peyton felt that she learned that, \u2018you could mix to make any colour using other colours apart from primary colours,’ and Jorjia liked mixing to find the perfect colour!<\/p>\n

The Christmas show was a great success. Lailah said, \u2018It was fun to actually be in the show and perform in front of the adults,\u2019 while Peyton, \u2018liked singing and dancing and that everyone was taking videos and pictures of us.\u2019 Heidi \u2018loved doing the dances\u2019 too!<\/p>\n

Kaiyah shared that she thought, \u2018it was a fun experience to be acting in front of everyone and I got acting tips like how to add expression when saying my lines.\u2019<\/p>\n

Caleb, \u2018liked playing the saxophone because my Mum and Nana were laughing and smiling at me.\u2019 Skye also relished being on the stage saying, \u2018I liked when I went on the stage and everyone laughed because of the wig I was wearing!\u2019<\/p>\n

The children even saw a fantastic magic show! Ariana liked when the puppet tried to kiss Heidi. We\u2019re not sure Heidi was so impressed with that though! She said, \u00a0\u2018I liked that I got a magic wand and a bracelet. I liked that the monkey kept asking me questions but not when he wanted to kiss me!\u2019<\/p>\n

Caleb liked when the magician pretended to be Darth Vader and \u2018he gave Jake a light sabre balloon and he pretended to chop his arm off!\u2019 Lucy added that she thought it was so funny \u2018how the monkey kept pulling the handkerchiefs down into the suitcase.\u2019 Peyton noticed that every time the magician said \u2018Let It Go\u2019 to the monkey, the music from Frozen would play. She thought that was very funny!<\/p>\n

The Christmas Party was a lovely chance for the children to get dressed up and have a ball! Rhea \u2018liked that we got to do all the Scottish dances with my friends.\u2019 Alexa and Harrison both commented on the fact that they loved playing all the games and spending time with their friends. Calum stated, \u2018It was so much fun, and I wanted to stay forever!!\u2019<\/p>\n

Literacy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have been working well on finding ways to improve our writing.<\/p>\n

Noah tells us that, \u2018we are working on our punctuation so we can get better at our writing, and we are trying to use good vocabulary in our sentences.\u2019<\/p>\n

Jacob B. says that, \u2018we are adding adjectives to our writing to make it more interesting for others to read.\u2019 Lucy also mentioned that, \u2018we are making our writing neater by using our joins.\u2019<\/p>\n

Our Reading Champions are Alexa, Kaiyah and\u00a0Millie were busy organising reading challenges for November and December. Kaiyah tells us that, \u2018It was fun to make up different ideas for the challenges.\u2019\u00a0 Cooper shared that liked reading under the Christmas tree because, \u2018he could hear about what everyone was reading.\u2019 Oly liked, \u2018sitting under the tables to read then we sat on top too!\u2019<\/p>\n

Jorjia \u2018liked sitting under the teacher\u2019s desk to read because we got to pick a friend to read with.\u2019<\/p>\n

Adam enjoyed reading \u2018in a random place- we went behind the stage and it was great!\u2019 Lacey liked this opportunity too because \u2018I hadn\u2019t been there for a long time.\u2019<\/p>\n

Google Classroom<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

All children have been issued with the log in information they will need to access this.\u00a0\u00a0Games and other resources are regularly posted here to help with your child\u2019s learning at home. Minecraft logins have also been issued, this is a great new additional resource. <\/strong><\/p>\n

If there are any problems with getting access, please let us know.<\/p>\n

Numeracy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have been working hard on place value and multiplication tables. Please continue to practise these at home. Also remember to ask questions in terms of division too eg How many 5s in 25, how many 8s in 64? Etc We have also been looking at how fractions relate to division. Eg What is a third of 27 and a quarter of 24? etc<\/p>\n

We have also been learning more about measurement with Mrs Potter.<\/p>\n

IDL<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our IDL this new term is Scotland. So be prepared to find out more about all things Scottish!<\/p>\n

Date for your diary<\/strong>-Our P4 Assembly is going to be about St Valentine\u2019s Day and all things heart based! It will be on Friday 10.2.23.<\/strong><\/p>\n

STEM<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have investigated forces last term and will continue this term. We have looked at push and pull and balanced forces. In the playground we had a fun time with the tug of war! We also used ramps to think about gravity and how different surfaces affect how far a toy car will travel. The children particularly enjoyed using straws to move ping pong balls! Recently we have started to explore magnets.<\/p>\n

Gym Days<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Indoor Gym \u2013 Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Outdoor PE\/Learning \u2013 Wednesday and Thursday afternoon<\/p>\n

Please remember trainers and to wear clothing appropriate to go out in all weathers!<\/p>\n

Please\u00a0 \u2013 no jewellery for gym days including earrings, necklaces and rings<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

A wee reminder<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Some children do not have their cardigans\/jumpers\/shoes \/jackets\/ packed lunch boxes\/ water bottles labelled. \u00a0\u00a0Please can you make sure you write your child\u2019s name on their items then we can return them. Thank you.<\/p>\n
