Spelling                      

Spelling list  – 9.3.20

Remember to copy your spelling words correctly.

RED

1. Write out the list of homophones twice using two different strategies.
2. Write a sentence for each set of homophones.

BLUE

1. Write the list of 15 words twice using 2 different strategies.
2. Write out the list a third time circling the silent letter in each word.
3. Write 5 sentences using at least 10 of your spelling words.

GREEN

1. Create a list of 10 words for the phoneme ‘o’.
2. Write out this list plus the 5 common words twice using two different strategies.
3. Write 3 sentences using at least 5 of your spelling words.

Spelling homework is due on Tuesday 17th March.

Reading

Please read Chapters 12 & The Door  by  17th March.

Maths

1. A maths activity will be handed out to complete by 17th March.

Complete Exercise 2 and 3 from the money worksheets.

Practice the 7 or 8 times tables at home with a parent and ensure they sign off your homework to confirm you have completed this task.

Topic – WW2 Anderson Shelters

• Explain what an Anderson Shelter is in a paragraph (or more) in your homework jotter.
• Draw a picture of an Anderson Shelter and list the materials used to build one.

Any questions regarding homework please ask by Thursday.  Also remember to ensure an adult signs your jotter.

Hope you have all had a great weekend and you are excited about the STEM competition tomorrow.  You have worked so hard and I am so proud you all!

Spelling

Red

Please write out the homophones listed twice using two different strategies. Choose three pairs of homophones and use each pair in a sentence.

Blue

Create a list of 5 words for each of the 3 phonemes.  Write this list of 15 words using two different strategies. Write three sentences using at least two words from your list in each sentence.

Green

Create a list of 10 words with the ‘ou’ phoneme.  With the other 5 words write out your words three times using different strategies – rainbow writing, waterfall, upper and lowercase etc.

Reading

Please read Chapter 12, 13 or 14 of Goodnight Mister Tom.   Everyone should have read Chapter 12 and 13 by the end of this week.

 Maths 

Grays and Somervilles please complete in your homework jotter the first page of the Money Workbook which will be handed out in class on Tuesday (Consolidation and Exercise 1).

Philips please complete the Subtraction worksheet which will be handed out in class on Tuesday.

Hope you have all had a great weekend!

We have a very busy week ahead with our STEM projects so I have only given you two tasks to complete.

Reading

Please read at least one Chapter  (11, 12 or 13)  from the class novel.   Write 2 questions  about the Chapter that you will be able to ask a partner in class. Think of the comprehension questions that you have answered in class about previous Chapters you have read. You could ask a question about an event,   what we can infer from a character’s actions or behaviour or the meaning of a tricky word.

Maths

Please log onto  RM easimaths and practice for at least 30 minutes. This can be spread over the week.

I note that a lot of the class have not yet completed any activities on RM easimaths. Please ensure that  you have a note from home (by this Thursday) if you are unable to  access  your easimaths account.

Chapter 9 or 10 of Goodnight Mister Tom. If you have read both these chapters then read a book of your choice for at least 10 minutes each day.

Red and Blue

1. Write out your spelling words in your Homework jotter

• using upper and lowercase letters ; and
• in neat cursive writing using pen

2. Write a short story using as many of your spelling words as possible. Remember to check the spelling.

Green

1. Create a list of 5 words with the ‘ea’ phoneme (as in break).

2. Write this list and your other spelling words twice in your homework jotter.

3. Write 3 sentences including at least 3 of your spelling words.

Work with your team to create a poster, video or presentation for your STEM model.  You will  decide in class on Tuesday which task to complete at home.

CLASS TRIP

A wee reminder that our class trip to the Riverside Museum is on Thursday. Please ensure that you arrive on time on Thursday morning  and bring a packed lunch and waterproof jacket with you.  It should be a fun day!
