Razan created a wonderful black pen drawing of the new arrivals. I think they like it.
Well done!

Woohoo! We came to school this morning to find that two of our eggs have hatched. We have two little chicks getting used to life outside their eggs. The boys and girls (and teachers) are super excited and we have all enjoyed watching them this morning.
I checked the temperature of the incubator. It was 37.7, I checked the poster.

Here is Daniel’s picture of the first chicks to hatch.

Here are some diary entries from day 2.

Primary 1 have started their own chick diaries where they will write and draw each day to record the journey from egg to chick. Here are a few entries from today.
Cristiana’s day 1 diary
Nathan’s day 1 diary
Tommy’s day 1 diary
Due to our class visitors, we will have different homework for the next two weeks. All homework should be handed in in 2 weeks’ time on Friday 8th February.
1. Reading book
There will be no reading books sent home. Instead we ask you to choose a story or factual book at home or at the library to read together (It would be great if this included eggs, chicks and/or chickens).
2. Book Review
Complete a book review about your chosen book. Draw a detailed picture and write a sentence about your favourite part or the most interesting part.
3. Adjectives
Use the sheet provided to draw a picture of the eggs we have in class. Think about the different words you could use to describe them and write them around your picture. Now do the same for a chick.
4. Art and design task
Design and create either a colourful egg or a chick using any materials you like. You could draw and colour a picture, make a collage, make a model, create a computer picture – or anything else you can think of! Bring your creation to school on 8.2.19.
Extra tasks to support your child’s progress:
– Number work on Education City – Use your login details on page 11 of the home-link diary to access Education City Homework on a computer or tablet.
– Phonics and common words – Use your flashcards to practise reading and writing the phonemes and common words we know. Please note: new cards will be issued for each teaching block.
Please get in touch via the home-link diary with any homework queries. Thank you for your support, Miss Illingworth and Mrs Stein.
Eggs to chicks day 1:
Two men delivered some eggs. There are 10 chicken eggs.
It is very EGG-citing!

I took a photograph of the eggs; they look very cute.
