Home Learning for Week beginning 20th April

Good morning and welcome to Home Learning Week 3. I hope you all had a lovely Easter in the sunshine and the Easter Bunny was good to you all!

I have listed tasks which can be undertaken during the week and can be carried out in any order. Everyone is in a different situation so please do whatever you can with your child and don’t worry about completing it all.

Literacy

Reading

Please find the text below for your child’s group. Try to answer the questions in a sentence in the jotter that was in your child’s Home Learning pack.

Strawberries

Grapes

Pineapples

Apples

Please try to practise saying and writing (correct formation) all the letters of the alphabet daily then complete pages 2- 5 of the booklet pictured below (one page per day). Words could also be practised using paint, pasta and play dough etc. Any colouring activities which could be undertaken would also be beneficial as this would help to develop finger muscles which would aid pencil control.

Dictionary

Please find below the Dictionary booklets for each group with pages to be undertaken. Dictionary booklets were given out in the Home Learning packs.

Strawberries

Please complete pages 1 and 2 of this booklet.

Grapes

Please complete pages 2 and 3 of this booklet.

Writing

Strawberries and Grapes

Spring Break was a very different holiday for us all. Ask your child to write about it. Include: what things they did instead of going out visiting new places or going outside to play with friends, what was their favourite activity to do and how have they kept in touch with family and friends? Remember to use V.C.O.P. (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers, Punctuation). Children can illustrate their writing when they are finished. You could use the jotter that was given out or your own paper.

Apples

Ask your child to choose an activity they really enjoyed doing during Spring Break. Ask them to draw a picture of themself doing it and remember to include all body parts in the correct places.  They could then label the picture, using sounds/phonemes to “have a go” at writing some simple words. You could use the jotter that was given out or your own paper.

Handwriting

Please complete the page indicated below for your child’s group.  Handwriting booklets were given out in the Home Learning packs.

Strawberries

Grapes and Pineapples

Apples

Personal Reading

Please set aside time each day to spend some time reading for pleasure.

Numeracy

Please find below this term’s Learn Its/Counting activities for your child’s group. There is also a link to Time worksheets/Clock Face activity (which can be used for extra practice) that can be printed out.

Circles

Time Worksheets

Squares

Time Worksheet 1

Time Worksheet 2

Clock Face Activity

Triangles

Please continue to practise counting forwards to 10, as well as, counting backwards.  Also, practise writing numbers to 10 correctly and try to count different objects around the house e.g. spoons, crayons.  Continue to discuss numbers before and between, e.g. What number comes before 3?  What number comes between 6 and 8?

Time Worksheets

Clock Face Activity

 Other Activities

Below is a link to sheets which can be printed out, completed and kept as a record of this unique time.
