Homework Blog for Week beginning 26th August

Welcome to Room 5’s Homework Blog.  This will be updated each week, ready to be viewed on a Monday, outlining tasks which have to be undertaken at home .

This week Spelling, Reading and Numeracy homework has been issued.

Phonemes/Spelling

Each week phonemes or a list of phoneme and common words will be given for each group to learn.  Please try to practise these phonemes/words each night using a multi-sensory activity in preparation for a quiz in class on a Friday.  Multi-sensory ideas could include: making the phonemes/words using play dough, painting the phonemes/words, writing the phonemes/words in a sand tray or on a whiteboard/chalkboard, as well as, writing the phonemes/words on a computer then changing the font/size, writing the phonemes/words using fancy letters or with your eyes shut.  The phonemes/words could even be written using the hand you don’t normally write with.  You could even try to think of new multi-sensory activities to try.  These jobs should be chosen by your child and do not have to be returned to school.

Challenge Activities – Can you write a sentence for each of your words?  Remember to use V.C.O.P. in your work (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers, Punctuation).  Can you think of any more words which have the same phonemes as the ones we are revisiting this week? Can you spell them correctly?

For the first few weeks, we will be revisiting phonemes or phoneme and common words taught last year to ensure retention when reading and writing words.
