Home Learning 11.5.20

Good morning everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend and are ready for some more Home Learning activities! Here is your positivity and motivation for the week.

Here are you work suggestions for the week:

  • Squares: Squares 11.5.20Revise counting in 6s, 7s, 8s, and 9s.
  • Circles: Circles 11.5.20Revise the 2, 3, 4, and 5 times tables. Revise your knowledge for digit numbers. Can you order them from biggest to smallest/smallest to biggest?
  • Triangles: Triangles 11.5.20Revise the 2, 3, 4, and 5 times tables. Revise counting in 10s, 20s, 50s, 100s and 200s.

Reading
Spelling
  • Red: Consolidation of recent weeks words – sign, design, gnome, cushion, push, pull, gym, mystery, rhythm.
  • Blue: (th) them, this, then, there, these, father, mother, that, rather.
  • Green: Consolidation of recent weeks words – crumb, comb, climb, know, knot, knew, cuff, cliff, stiff.
Writing

Can you choose one of these story settings and write a paragraph describing it. Remember to include VCOP to up level your writing. You could use descriptions of your senses to also make it more interesting to the reader – what you could you see, hear feel? You can send a picture of your stories to the school photos email.

HWB
  • Newsround and Quiz.
  • Keeping yourself active – in the house, garden, walking, cycling etc. You can look at previous weeks for ideas.
  • Design a healthy eating poster.
  • Research some healthy recipes and try them out (I have been trying lots of different smoothies!)
  • Help around the house (I’m sure it would be appreciated)

Good morning everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekend and managed to relax a little. Thank you for some of your positive quotes that you sent to me. They were all fantastic and I found it very tricky to choose a favourite. So instead we have “Room 8’s Page of positivity!”

You can look back at this any time you feel you need some positivity! I am going to stick this on my wall so I can do the same thing.

Here are your tasks for this week. As previously mentioned, these are suggestions and you do not have to complete all of them. Just try your best and do what you can!

Reading:
  • Some of you might like to read this book: How to not go to schoolIt might give you some giggles and there are some discussion points throughout.
  • Here is a Viking Comprehension task you might be interesting in doing: Viking Comprehension 04.05.20Viking Comprehension Questions 04.05.20
  • Can you summarise any of the stories above? Maybe you could summarise a book you have recently read? Summariser 04.05.20
  • Are there any words that you find tricky? Can you use your word building strategies to figure our what they mean? (Reading the sentences round about it) Can you use a dictionary or the internet to find out the definition of the word? Word Building 04.05.20

Just a quick reminder that Thursday is in in-service day and Friday is a holiday so it is up to you whether you complete tasks on these days. If you still haven’t checked in you can go back to do so. Photos update

I have been seeing all the great photos you have been sending to the school photos email! They are fantastic and it looks like you are doing lots of fun activities at home. Please remember I am unable to post photos with any faces in them but I have loved seeing them all.
