This week, P5 put on their scientist caps and created icebergs in line with our Titanic topic and Sinking and Floating in science. First we filled up sandwich bags with water and decorated these with food colouring and glitter. Next, we froze the icebergs for 48 hours. When the icebergs were frozen, we placed them in water and watched what happened. All icebergs floated, however only the tips of these floated above the surface. This helped us to understand that although icebergs may seem tiny on top, the majority of the ice is hidden under water! Pictures to follow.
