Pupils will work through units of work that cover Experiences and Outcomes from Level 4\"processor\" of the Computing curricular area from Curriculum for Excellence.<\/p>\n

Pupils will study Computing for one period each week.<\/p>\n

The units of work in the course include:<\/p>\n

  1. Programming with Visual Basic<\/li>\n
  2. Computer Systems<\/li>\n
  3. Stopmotion Animation Techniques<\/li>\n
  4. Network Security Issues<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Aug-Sept<\/td>\nComputer Systems \u2013 <\/b>Investigating the hardware required to build a computer system, including input, out and backing store devices.<\/p>\n

    		Two written theory tasks<\/td>\nA Theory test at the end of the unit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    A Practical investigation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Oct – Dec<\/td>\nStop-Motion Animation \u2013 <\/b>This unit builds on the skills developed in S2. Pupils will develop a deeper understanding of some animation techniques and will plan, design and construct a stop-motion animation of their choice.<\/p>\n

     <\/td>\n

    		Three tasks, including planning and design for animations to be completed in class.<\/td>\nA Theory test at the end of the unit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    A group project.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Jan – Mar<\/td>\nProgramming with Visual Basic \u2013 <\/b>Pupils will develop their programming skills from S2 by completing a series of tasks using a more complex programming language called Visual Basic.<\/p>\n

     <\/td>\n

    		Three or four theory tasks<\/td>\nA folio of completed programs.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Apr – May<\/td>\nNetwork Security<\/b> \u2013Investigating computer viruses and how to protect a computer from harm.<\/p>\n

    		To be confirmed<\/td>\nA Theory test at the end of the unit.\u00a0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
