\"DesktopThe S2 Computing course aims to cover the Computing\u00a0Experiences and Outcomes from Level 3 in the Technologies curricular area of Curriculum for Excellence.<\/p>\n

Pupils will study Computing one period per week.<\/p>\n

Our course covers the following topics:<\/p>\n

  1. Animation<\/li>\n
  2. Programming with Scratch<\/li>\n
  3. Computer Systems<\/li>\n
  4. Graphics using Serif Draw<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Aug-Sept<\/span><\/td>\nComputer Systems \u2013 <\/span><\/b>Investigating the hardware required to build a computer system, including input, out and backing store devices.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

    		Two written theory tasks<\/span><\/td>\nA Theory test at the end of the unit.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    A Practical investigation.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Oct – Dec<\/span><\/td>\nAnimation \u2013 <\/span><\/b>This covers basic animation techniques, including creating flip book as well as computer animation with Powerpoint and Pivot.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

    		Three tasks, including planning and design for animations to be completed in class.<\/span><\/td>\nA group project.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Jan – Mar<\/span><\/td>\nProgramming with Scratch \u2013 <\/span><\/b>Pupils will learn how to construct simple computer games using a programming language called Scratch.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

    		Two written tasks<\/span><\/td>\nA folio of completed programs.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Apr – May<\/span><\/td>\nGraphics<\/b> \u2013<\/span><\/span>Investigating the tools and features of a vector-graphics program called Serif Draw.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

    		To be confirmed<\/span><\/td>\nA folio of graphics to demonstrate drawing skills.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
