{"id":990,"date":"2020-04-01T18:50:09","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T18:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sl\/kirktonprimaryschool\/?p=990"},"modified":"2020-04-03T14:25:53","modified_gmt":"2020-04-03T14:25:53","slug":"covid-19-update-9-1st-april-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sl\/kirktonprimaryschool\/2020\/04\/01\/covid-19-update-9-1st-april-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid 19 &#8211; Update 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><u><strong>outh Lanarkshire Council Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice<br \/>\nFree school meals<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>From Friday 3 April we have in place new arrangements to send PayPoint vouchers directly to parents\/carers of children who are entitled to free school meals.<br \/>\nThese will replace the &#8216;take and go&#8217;\u00a0lunches that have been available from our emergency childcare hubs and some other schools.\u00a0These lunches will not be available for collection after 3 April.<\/p>\n<p>Parents\/carers of eligible children do not need to apply for this payment.<br \/>\nA \u00a330 voucher will be sent to you on a fortnightly basis using the mobile phone numbers or email addresses we already hold for you. If we don&#8217;t have your number\u00a0or email\u00a0we will post the vouchers to you.<\/p>\n<p>The first \u00a330 payments will be made on Friday 3 April, covering weeks commencing 30 March and 6 April.<\/p>\n<p>A second payment will be made on Thursday 9 April (as Friday 10 April is a public holiday), covering weeks beginning 13 and 20 April.<\/p>\n<p>Advance payments will continue every fortnight thereafter from Friday 24 April.<br \/>\nScottish Government guidelines suggest that payments should reflect what councils charge for school lunches. As the cost of a school lunch in South Lanarkshire is \u00a31.70, the \u00a330 fortnightly payment considerably exceeds that.\u00a0The payment is also in line with the UK Government\u2019s \u00a315 a week vouchers system.<\/p>\n<p>Payments will be made only to those entitled to means-tested free school meals. This includes children in Primaries 1 to 3, who will be assessed for free school meal entitlement. Again, this is in line with Scottish Government guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on eligibility see the\u00a0<a title=\"Free school meals\" href=\"https:\/\/www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk\/info\/200259\/education_benefits\/159\/school_clothing_grants_and_free_school_meals\/2\">Free school meals<\/a>\u00a0page.<\/p>\n<p>The payment vouchers can be redeemed for cash at any PayPoint outlet, of which there are more than 100 across South Lanarkshire.
