Week 39 …. Sports Day feedback, moving on visits and next session

Our induction days are now completed for Primary One pupils starting in August 2019. it was lovely to see so many confident young learners ready for school. The Nursery Graduation was a special event for pupils, staff and parents and I would like to thank  our nursery team for the effort that went into preparing for the event.

Dietary Requirements

We have a number of pupils coming into school with additional health needs. This includes pupils with nut allergies. Our school needs to be a nut free environment and I would urge all parents to support us in helping keep pupils safe by checking snacks before sending them into school.  We will be ensuring that pupils do not swap / share snacks in Primary 1 to support successful monitoring of the situation.  If your child has an allergy / dietary requirement that we are unaware of, please contact the school office to discuss and allow us to plan for their time in school.

Sports Day

Following Sports Day, we requested feedback from parents, pupils and staff to help us plan for next session. The key points of feedback include:

  • 76% people preferred a local sports centre to school for Sports Day
  • 59% people preferred competitive races to potted sports
  • 64% people preferred a whole school Sports Day to separate infant and senior events
  • 90% adults felt Sports Day was well organised

The additional feedback comments will be arranged into groups and made available within the next few weeks.

Moving On

The pupils all moved into their new classes on Friday morning for a taster session. The pupils all seemed to have a lovely time getting to new new class mates and their teacher for the year ahead.

For pupils going into Primary 2 (Room 3), I will confirm the class teacher’s name on Tuesday 18th June.
