Week 4 at Heathery Knowe PS and Nursery Class

Primary 1 pupils are now confident in school routines and are making good progress in learning.

If you have any concerns about your child’s progress in learning or how well they have settled into the new school year, please get in touch with the office and we can arrange a telephone meeting to  discuss this further.

Heathery Knowe PTC

Heathery Knowe has an active Parent Teacher Council. Members of the PTC support the school by consulting on school improvement, supporting school events and fundraising. The PTC normally meet in school each month and will continue to do so unless Covid restrictions require it to move to a digital meeting.   If any parent is interested in participating in PTC meetings and events to support the school or would like to learn more about it please get in touch  with Mrs Davidson (PTC Secretary) or Mrs Archbold (PTC Chairperson) by emailing  hkptc.secretary@gmail.com
or sending a message through the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HKSPTC
The next meeting is Tuesday 26th October at 7pm.
Good To Grow with Morrisons
We are registered with the ‘Good to Grow’ Morrison’s promotion.

For every £10 you spend (in store or online) at Morrisons, you’ll get a Grow Token to help the school get everything they need to get growing. You can do this digitally by downloading the MyMorrisons app to start collecting Grow Tokens and choosing to donate them to Heathery Knowe PS.

We will be able to exchange the Grow Tokens for FREE gardening equipment for our school.

Parent Consultations

The school normally schedules parent consultation meetings to take place at the end of September. This year teachers will not be able to meet parents in person to discuss their child’s progress because of Covid restrictions. This year there will be telephone consultations in the last two weeks of September.

If you have any concerns about your child’s progress and feel you need to speak with a member of teaching staff sooner, please contact headteacher@heatheryknowe-pri.s-lanark.sch.uk and it will be shared with the class teacher for a response.

Quality Link Officer Visit

Mrs Waheeda Huq is the school’s Quality Link Officer. She works alongside me to support the school’s continuing journey towards excellence. On Thursday morning she visited Rooms 2, 6 and 10 to engage with learners and observe teaching and learning.

Within all classes, Mrs Huq found that the children were highly engaged and ready to learn. She recognised that the school values of being safe, kind and ready are embedded in classroom practice. The children she met with could speak confidently about their learning journey both in terms of next steps but also personal targets and areas to consolidate.

The school and nursery recovery plan has been fully discussed and we are now able to move on confidently with the next stage of school improvement in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council.

Covid 19

Please remember lateral flow tests can be used routinely when you are free from Covid symptoms. If you have any Covid symptons, you should self isolate and book a PCR test. A negative lateral flow test is not sufficiently accurate to assure you that you do not have Covid when symptoms are present.

This means children should not come to school with a cough and the reassurance that a lateral flow test was negative. A persistent cough is a symptom of Covid and only a negative PCR test accurately shows they are not infected.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Kirsty Duff
