Week 38 at Heathery Knowe PS and Nursery

It is hard to believe we are entering the last full week of the Summer term before finishing up for the holidays. Children are continuing to work very hard in class to complete learning activities, achieve curricular benchmarks and round off areas of work.

’The Big Write’

Normally children would spend part of an afternoon in their new class with the new teacher before the end of term. This year it is not possible to run this event as a result of Covid restrictions. As an alternative, children will write a letter to their new teacher with important information about themselves and their learning. Teachers will also write to their new pupils and this will be shared with children on Monday 21st June.

Primary 1 Induction

All new Primary 1 children are invited to attend the school playground at 3.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday next week to participate in transition activities. It is not possible for parents to remain with their children during the event but there will be a space to wait nearby.

Photographs

All children who had their photographs taken this week should have brought home a photograph slip in the brown envelope with the class information. Please register on the website and set up an account. By Monday, parents should be able to view and order any photographs that they would like to purchase. Photographs ordered by Wednesday 16th June will be delivered to the school for distribution before the end of term.

Improving our school

Schools are continuously improving organisations. Each year, parents views about the school are sought and this informs improvement. If you have not already done so, please use the link below to share your views of Heathery Knowe PS:

Summer Lunch Club

Heathery Knowe PS will remain open over the summer for children and families who would benefit from Summer Lunch Club. This is a free resource for families identified by the school based on individual circumstances. It is not a general childcare resource. If your child would benefit from this provision, please contact the school to speak with Mrs French.

Primary 7 Assembly

Parents are unable to attend the leaver assembly but it will be streamed live using a link to Microsoft Teams.  We hope you will be able to join us on Friday afternoon as we wish our Primary 7 pupils a fond farewell as they move on to secondary education.  More details on how to join will be available on Twitter at the start of the week.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Kirsty Duff
