News Reporters

There will be no news reporters this week.

Thanks to Charlie for creating a great Power Point about his experience of being stuck in Heathrow with 50,000 other passengers on Sunday 10th December due to the snow.

Ella also decided to focus on the weather and brought us a great Power Point also about how Storm Caroline sent temperatures to some parts of the UK to -14 degrees.

Good job guys!

scratch

Today we continued to look at Scratch tinkering activity. We changed the background and the sprites to a Christmas theme and added some dialogue spoken between the two sprites.

We then went on to update our e-portfolio taking a screenshot of our Christmas scene to add to the text. Not sure how many people finished so I think this is where we’ll start next week.

Homework week commencing 11th December

This week Miss Russell will be coming into our class on Friday to ask about homework as, of all of the classes in the school, we have the highest record of people not bringing in all, or part of their homework, 40 occasions since August!!

For those of you who always have your homework, please continue to show your usual responsible attitude and effort as it is much appreciated.  For those of you who do not, please make an extra special effort this week to have every piece completed and in on time

Homework this week is as follows:

  • Spelling – follow the list for the week commencing 11th December – LSCWC 3 times, activity from front inside cover, Spelling City or Big IQ Kids
  • Maths – 2 symmetry sheets – use a small mirror if you can to help you
  • Topic – we are building our shelters on Thursday so bring in any materials you can by then
  • Reading – try to do 10 minutes every night – anything you wish – record any completed books in your Reading Passport

News Reporters week commencing 11th December

Last week, Lewis brought us the fascinating story of the Supermoon which appeared on Sunday.  Lewis spotted the moon in the sky and decided to do some research on it.  He discovered that a Supermoon is 30% brighter than the normal moon and is a time when the moon is closest to our planet.  Well done Lewis!  Archie also made an excellent Power Point about Hill House in Helensburgh.  This home, designed by Charles Rennie MacIntosh is in danger of crumbling so a 4 million pound walkway is to be built around the outside in 2018 to try to preserve it.  Thanks Archie!

new digital learning

Today we started off writing up our e-portfolios. All but 5 children managed to insert a picture as well. We learned that pictures can be placed 4 different ways – Text first picture below, picture first text below, text to left and picture to the right, picture to the left and text to the right.

We then went on to a program called Scratch animation and learned how to change the timings and text. Finally we had a look at the Advent Calendar in the class folder.

Last week, Matthew brought us the fascinating story about the active volcano in Bali, Mount Agung and how 100,00 people have been ordered to evacuate the area for their own safety.  Reis also brought us the tragic story about a 5 year old boy who was left unattended by his parents at a water park in England and who sadly drowned.

Good fact checking boys!

27th November

This week in Digital Learning we completed an online Microsoft Form to answer questions showing our understanding of old technology week. Thank you to Calum who shared his PowerPoint about changing technology. Everyone now has a working Scratch account and you can either use Scratch or Code to practise coding at home.
