Making rain science experiment 5th October

On Friday we filled a glass with water almost to the top, put shaving cream on the top to represent a cloud and then we added some food colouring on top.  The food colouring represented water.  As we watched, the food colouring sank through the cloud and ‘rained’ into the cup.  We learned that clouds can only hold so much water and when they are full they burst and that is how we get rain or precipitation as we now know it’s called.

Homework week commencing 17th September

Homework this week is due in on Thursday and is as follows:

  • Spelling – Write the date at the top of the first fresh page in your language jotter and underline.  Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check your 10 words (LSCWC).  Do this 3 times so that you will have written 30 words in total by the end.  For those children on 8 words, this will be 24 in total.  Next choose 1 spelling activity from the front inside cover of your language jotter to do.  If the task involves writing, do it immediately after the LSCWC.  There is no need for a new heading but you should put the name of the task.  Next visit the following website to input your spelling words and play the games:
    • https://www.spellingcity.com/   (please note that you can only input 4 of your spelling words at a time to the website)

On Thursday we will do our spelling test at the back of the language jotter.  After September weekend you will then be able to share your score with everyone at home.

  • Maths – learning times tables – please see the suggested activities on the handout
  • Reading – aim to read for 10 minutes each night.  This may be from the home lending library in class or from your personal library at home.
