News Reporters week commencing 18th September

This week’s news reporters are Jack Cannon and Zara.  They will be asked to report back to the class on Thursday 21st.

Last week, Kieran presented a fabulous Power Point about the life of Princess Diana to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her death.  Calum Murray brought us the very interesting story about the conflict between North Korea and the United States.  He showed us an excellent video which helped to explain it in an easy to understand way.  Well done to the both of you!

Homework week commencing 18th September

Homework this week is spelling, learning your times tables and reading (either your home lending book or your own personal book).  Remember, the times games on the Blog are there for anyone wishing an extra challenge.

Due to September weekend, the spelling test will take place on Thursday (21st).

Also on Thursday, we will be holding class elections for the following reps:

Pupil Council

Health and Rights Respecting

Fairtrade

Eco/Outdoor

Anyone interested in any of these posts should prepare a short speech explaining why they would like to do the job and what qualities they could bring.  The successful candidates will be announced at Assembly after the September weekend.

Homework week commencing 11th September

Tonight in your homework jotter, you will see your score from last week.  Continue to follow the following format for spelling:

LSCWC your words 3 times in your jotter

Do 1 active spelling task from the front inside cover of your jotter

Input all 10 words to Spelling City, play the games and take the test

You will be given the opportunity to choose your first Home Lending book tomorrow during ICT.

Continue to work on your times tables.  Some people have been using the actual test I sent home as a basis for their practise which is great.

We will continue to work on Time this week.  Remember your first priority is your times tables but if you have any spare time you can check out the new link for Times games I have added to the blog entitled ‘More Times Games’.

News Reporters week commencing 11th September

Last week, Jay brought us a really interesting story full of great facts about the new Queensferry bridge in Scotland.  Rhion informed us about Hurricane Irma and shared with us that hurricanes are named in alphabetical order.  Well done boys!  We are glad you chose such topical stories to share.

This week’s reporters are Calum Murray and Kieran.  We look forward to hearing from you on Friday.

Homework week commencing 4th September

Homework begins this week!

You have been issued with a homework jotter and a hand out explaining what to do for spelling and maths.  As stated in the hand out, the main focus of maths will be learning your times tables.  If you wish to do extra work, we will be focusing on Time for the next few weeks in class.  You can play the Times games which you can access immediately to the left of this post or you can download the following board games to print off and play at home:

Mindfulness Workshop Wednesday 30th August

On Wednesday, we took part in a Mindfulness workshop.  Mindfulness means paying attention to what is happening in the present moment.  We learned:

how to control our response to a situation so that the outcome is better for everyone involved

to take more time to think about how we respond to our worries and problems and to tackle them one at a time

how to become more focused and that when we distract others we stop their brain cells from making new memories and vice versa

exercises to make us feel calm, relaxed and focused

Here are some photos of us in action!
