Spelling Homework

Bananas: Unit 5 extension words

swoop, school, prune, flute, threw, stew, continue, rescue, cushion, put

Dictation task: Please could you read aloud the following passage to your child and have them write it in their homework jotter.

Every June, the school dentist swoops on all the children to look at their teeth. Tom was worried as he had not looked after his teeth the way he should. There was plenty of proof because he had a loose tooth and another tooth was sore.

Oranges: revision of ‘ff’, ‘kn’ and ‘mb’

ff: off, cliff, cuff, stiff, different

kn: knock, know, knee, knight, kneel, knew

mb: comb, lamb, climb, crumb, dumb

In jotters, write words out using the LASACAWAC strategy (3 columns).

Reading Homework

Unicorns 1: New book – A world of sports (pages 1-16)

Unicorns 2: New book – The perfect pizza (pages 1-8)

Centaurs: Read and discuss whole book

Dragons: Charlotte’s Web- Chapter 6 & 7

As this is Scots week in school, the class has been given a poem to learn. It has been sent home in bags today. We hope to have a few pupils share this at assembly on Friday! We will be completing several Scots related activities this week in class.

Complete the phoneme grid for ”oo” and it’s representations

 

Oranges: ‘mb’ phoneme

Phoneme words: comb, lamb,climb, crumb, dumb

Common words: green, people, which, another

In jotters, write words out 3 times using the LASACAWAC strategy, last column write in rainbow writing. Choose 3 words and write the Dictionary meaning for each.

In jotters, write words out 3 times using the LASACAWAC strategy, last column write in rainbow writing. Choose 3 words and write a sentence for each.

Solo Talk- River Clyde Animal

As discussed before the holidays pupils will have a Solo Talk to complete this term. Each pupil has a leaflet outlining the set criteria in their bag today (Monday 6th). Talks should be ready to be presented week beginning the 20th. If a child is making a presentation on PowerPoint please could it be saved on a USB stick to allow it to be viewed in class.
