For children starting school in <strong>August 2027<\/strong>, Primary 1 registration will take place <strong>between 16 and 22 November 2026<\/strong>, which is earlier than in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>To register your child, you should complete the online enrolment form for your catchment school. Please note that even if your child attends the nursery associated with their catchment school, they are <strong>not automatically transferred<\/strong> to Primary 1 and must still be registered. Once your registration has been submitted, the school will contact you to discuss the next steps.<\/p>\n<p>Before registering, families should use the South Lanarkshire Council catchment checker to confirm their catchment school. To complete the application, you will need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your child&#8217;s full birth certificate<\/li>\n<li>Two recent official documents showing your permanent home address (dated within the last six months)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that only the parent, carer or individual with legal parental responsibilities for the child can complete the registration process.<\/p>\n<h3>Placing Requests<\/h3>\n<p>If you would like your child to attend a school other than their catchment school, you must first register them at their catchment school. Once this has been completed, you can submit a placing request through South Lanarkshire Council.<\/p>\n<h3>Early Entry and Deferred Entry<\/h3>\n<p>Families whose child is not yet of school age but whom they feel may be ready for Primary 1 can apply for <strong>early entry<\/strong>. Similarly, parents and carers who wish their child to remain in nursery for an additional year may apply for <strong>deferred entry<\/strong>.
