{"id":119,"date":"2023-02-13T18:37:46","date_gmt":"2023-02-13T18:37:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sl\/biggarprimaryschool\/?page_id=119"},"modified":"2025-02-13T19:29:44","modified_gmt":"2025-02-13T19:29:44","slug":"transition-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sl\/biggarprimaryschool\/primary-1-transition\/transition-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Transition Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Transition Dates<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Transition dates for children joining Primary one at Biggar Primary School in August 2025 are on the following dates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuesday 3rd June (1.15pm-2.45pm with a parents meeting in the hall)<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday 4th June (9.15am-11.45am)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Play Workshop: 4th February 3pm<\/li>\n<li>Early Literacy Workshop: 4th March 3pm<\/li>\n<li>Numeracy Workshop:\u00a0 1st April 3pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 1.5rem\">Enrolment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_LYkBGjq0ga_\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_Y8gyjyu6ChC\" class=\"\">Please note below the enrolment process for the new intake of Primary 1 children for August 2025. This is for children who are 5 years of age between 1st March 2025 and end of February 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_xlkBGjK1ga_\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_8209qiJF_HA\" class=\"TextBodyEmph color_TextEmph\">Week commencing 6th January 2025<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_8fkBGj41ga_\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_rW1XoRj2Ch1\" class=\"TextBodyEmph color_TextEmph\"> Please register your child for school if eligible to start. Please note that the system will not be open until the 6th January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_97kBGjq-ga_\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_g5OiuNZB3q4\" class=\"\">To register your child for school you should complete the online registration form. This can be done using the South Lanarkshire Council website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_M0kBGja-ga_\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_x9XR-IakveA\" class=\"\">Please visit the catchment area checker to select your catchment school and register your child.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_lKkBGjK0ga_\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_6m2xwE-yWS6\" class=\"\"> <\/span><a id=\"text_vs2xwEFyWS6\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk\/info\/200186\/primary_school_information\/770\/school_catchment_area_maps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">School catchment area maps &#8211; South Lanarkshire Council<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_zhjBGjq_ga_\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_lYkZOz3yl8-\" class=\"\">If you have any difficulty in identifying your catchment school, please email <\/span><a id=\"text_yRkZOzpxl8-\" class=\"\" href=\"mailto:Edsuppserv.helpline@southlanarkshire.gov.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Edsuppserv.helpline@southlanarkshire.gov.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_wCLUnMH0RN8\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_B5Gg1MY1Hb4\" class=\"\">The online registration form will ask you to provide each child\u2019s full birth certificate and two pieces of recent official documentation both containing your permanent home address for example a utility bill, council tax statement, housing rent card, child benefit documentation. Proof of where the child lives may also be needed. This information will be sent directly to the school office email address.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_jJLUnMX0RN8\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_bM99ys-IHs9\" class=\"\">If your child attends nursery of your catchment school don\u2019t assume that they will be automatically transferred. You must register them as normal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_WQLUnMn0RN8\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_F0sTENkkQH_\" class=\"\">If your child is starting school for the first time you must enrol your child at their catchment school in January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_JXLUnM11RN8\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_Tm5hM-Z0jT1\" class=\"\">If you wish to defer a decision to start school, the enrolment process must still be completed along with a deferred entry application in collaboration with your child&#8217;s nursery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"paragraph_XuKUnMX-RN8\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_MCNp2RuaLRB\" class=\"\">If you wish your child to go to another school, you must enrol in the first instance with their catchment school and ask for an information leaflet that provides details on how to make a placing request.
