As part of British Food Fortnight we made smoothies using a selection of fruit. We peeled, chopped and sliced a selection of fruit before popping it in the blender. Yummy!

Ok so we’re only at school for 4 days this week so we have a lot to squeeze in!

Language

Writing – we’ll be writing imaginative mixed up fairy tales for the infant department.

Reading – we’ll be looking at the summarising strategy and reading more of Think Me Back. We’ll also be developing comprehension skills.

Maths

Squares and Triangles will be working more on addition and subtraction and should be revising mental and written methods at home.

Circles will be working on symmetry.

Science

Miss Hogg will be teaching you more about rocks.

It’s also British Food Fortnight. We’ll try and squeeze in a few activities related to this over the next 2 weeks.

We’ve been working on place value and took a wee trip outdoors to practise writing and ordering numbers.

Essential Homework

• Maths: RM Easimaths – 2 sessions (30 minutes)
• Language: Learn spelling words. ‘tious’ words. Conscientious, pretentious, superstitious, vexatious, ostentatious, rambunctious, surreptitious, scrumptious, repetitious, facetious.
• Choose 3 spelling words and use them in a paragraph/sentence.
• Language: Connectives

Use the following sentence starter

The lion roared loudly….

and complete it using the following connectives, because, when, until, so, although, despite so that it makes sense each time.

• Language: Connectives work on studyladder. (under set tasks – 3rd task requires flashplayer)

A huge congratulations to Hallside for achieving our Rights Respecting School Award. Our class were very involved in the assemblies, presentations and walk rounds with our class reps (below) having a major role to play. Our class also had a question session with the assessor. She was very impressed by your answers, as was I. Very proud of you all! Well done and enjoy your weekend.
