Maths – worksheet given out in class

Maths – session of RM Easimaths

Language – learn spelling words ewe, yew, you, leek, leak, piece, peace, side, sighed and their meanings.

Topic – due in NEXT Fri. Research the history of guitars and create a 3D model of one.

WW2 presentation for those that have to present.

Create a poster to display about a concept you’ve been learning in Maths. (decimals, shape, money, fractions)

Create a top 10 list of your favourite books and authors. It should look nice and be in colour.

Read for 15 minutes each night.

Create a fact file on your favourite band/singer. It should look nice and be in colour.

Linguascope games on a topic of your choice.

 

The Week Ahead…

Maths

Pentagons will finish work on shape and begin fractions.

Squares and Triangles will continue with decimals then link this to money.

Circles will continue work with money, especially looking at addition and subtraction.

 

Language

We will finish another Chapter of Kensuke’s Kingdom.

For writing we will redraft our band profiles.

 

Other info

Hopefully we’ll get all our band photo shoots finished. Can’t wait to see what you’ll look like.

Science Zone should start this week…topic is Space. Lots of recent news about this!

The week ahead…

Maths

Pentagons will be exploring shapes and properties of triangles.

Squares, Triangles and Circles will be exploring money.

 

Language

We will complete and post the Cathkin letters and peer assess the diary entries. We’ll also begin to look at persuasive writing.

We’ll discuss Ch 1 of Kensuke’s Kingdom, paying close attention to the skill of summarising, skimming and scanning.

 

Topic

We all have our band names and will design our logos.

Language – Spelling. Aggressive, available, bargain, individual, leisure, criticize, foreign, occupy, rhyme. Learn to spell these words.

Language – WOW sentence(s) for 5 words.

Maths – sheets given in class. Answer them on the booklet. (We’ve went over using a protractor but if you are having probs let me know before Fri)

Additional tasks MUST also be handed in on Friday!!! You do not have to complete them all, but remember you must achieve at least 10 points.

Essential Homework

  • Language: learn spelling words for test on Friday.

Homophones: eligible, illegible, morning, mourning, decent, descent, dessert, desert, stationary, stationery.

  • Language: Write a WOW sentence for each word.
  • Language: Apostrophes worksheets from booklet.
  • Maths: Squares/Triangles/Circles – practise using a protractor to measure angles. Pentagons: Functions and algebra work (You’ll be given this on Tues or Wed)
  • ICT: Continue to work on Code.org to complete the remainder of the course.

  • Complete a session of RM Easimaths.

  • Design a header for our blog.
  • Write an entry for our class blog.
  • Listen to at least 3 different songs from different genres. Write the band name, the title of the song, date it was released, genre it belongs to and your thoughts on it. (Hint: this will help with your homework next week)

  • Maths: Mental Times Tables revision. (Link to division and speed – not just being able to say the tables in order)
  • Language: Write an information booklet for Dementia based on what you heard during the talk last week. You may carry out additional research.
  • French (Science): Complete the Parts of the Body worksheet. Linguascope may help.

  • Follow a recipe at home to create something edible. Be prepared to talk me through what you did. Email a picture to slgw07maxwelllouise@glow.sch.uk or bring in a picture or a signed sentence saying what you did.

  • Publish an original entry on our blog. Remember suitability and interest. (This will not count if this is your ‘job’)
  • Complete an extra session of RM Easimaths.
  • Complete some of the additional games on the blog relating to your Maths topic.
  • Keep an Activity Diary for Mon – Thur to highlight how much physical activity you undertake. List what you think you do well and what you could improve on.
