by<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>motivating pupils to be successful learners <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>enabling pupils to be confident individuals <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>providing opportunities to practice responsible citizenship <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>encouraging pupils to be effective contributors. <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ensuring every individual need is met.<\/p>\n<p>(2) To provide a safe, secure and happy environment where every child reaches their full potential.<\/p>\n<p>(3) To raise self-esteem and attainment through the celebration of achievement and success.<\/p>\n<p>(4) To develop pupils\u2019 personalities, talents and physical abilities in a variety of settings allowing them to reach to their fullest potential in school and the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>(5) To minimise the effect of additional support needs as a barrier to learning and to provide learning experiences that are stimulating, challenging and age appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>(6) To maintain good lines of communication within the school, with parents and with the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>(7) To develop partnerships with other establishments and agencies in the local community.<\/p>\n<p>(8) To develop Whiteness Primary School in accordance with Shetland Island Council\u2019s Improvement Plan and the Scottish Executive\u2019s National Priorities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Our Shared Ethos<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Our ethos at Whiteness is about,<strong> <em>\u201cthe feeling you get when you come into our school\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Pupil Council asked parents to rate how we are doing and share words that describe our school \u00a0during a Parents&#8217; Evening.\u00a0 We have put the words into a Wordl.
