Dear Parents and Carers
It is lovely you have joined our school community along with your child, Since starting you will have been added onto the school distribution list and will receive any correspondence from school going forward.
I would like to draw your attention to a few extra things- so that you can fully be part of our community.
Our school Vision, Aims, Values and Ethos.
If you have time please visit our website to familiarise yourself with our vision, aims, values and ethos here:
Orange Free School
Due to pupils with allergies- we are an orange free school.

Please find our priorities for the year here:
Zones of Regulation (Z of R)
We use the language from the Zones of Regulation to help children start to give the different emotions they feel a name. This is built on progressively throughout our pupils’ time in school. Please see below a useful guide to the Z of R- to familiarise yourself with this.

Floor books- Planning and Self-evaluation/Improvement
Staff update the planning floor book weekly- this showcases the learning that has gone on in the setting through the week and is a valuable planning tool for staff to use.
The self-evaluation / Improvement floor book keeps you up to date with the work of the setting.
You will find the floor books on the table outside the Early Years door- please feel free to look through when dropping off or picking up and to add any comments you may have to enhance the floor books- you will find speech bubble post-its for this purpose.
Your views
We would like to hear your views on the work of the setting- we regularly put out a question for you to respond to- with a simple yes or no button vote. Please feel free to leave any comments on a posit and place in a jar. Many thanks
Learning Stories
We will share your child’s Learning Story with you once a term, but please ask for it sooner if you have something to add or would just like to take a look.
We have WOW stickers, that you will see used in the Learning Stories- these are placed to mark a WOW moment.
Spare clothes and wellies
Please could you leave a complete change of clothes, each day at Early Years. It is helpful if a pair of wellies are left at all times too for your child to use. We have spare sets in school so let a member of staff know if you would like us to allocate a pair to your child.
Library
We have Library every Thursday- children are encouraged to swap a book each week. Please place returned Library books in the box outside the Early Years door.
Bookbug
We have regular bookbug sessions for parents and children. There is a super app that can be downloaded full of songs and rhymes here
Thank you for taking the time to read through this information, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, concerns or ideas to improve our work.
Kind Regards
Rachel
