Stay and Play Days
It was lovely to meet the children who are moving into Primary 1 after the holidays.
Activities were all based in the outdoor area and it was so lovely to see the bairns playing so happily together. It was also a great opportunity to meet all the parents.
They explored the wildlife garden and were delighted to meet our resident frog who was quite happy to be admired.
All the children received the book ‘Bobby and the Burland Pearls’ which we read out at the Learning Logs.
The children had 4 sessions at the school and the weather was amazing so we were very lucky. They got to toast marshmallow on the Firepit, play games, sing songs and do some craft activities on the third session.
The final session was all about having fun, saying goodbye to the Early Years Staff a little farewell party.
P6 Bring Your Parent Day
Primary 6 had a great day on Friday with Bring Your Parent Day. They spend the day before thinking up different activities to do. We started the day with a STEM challenge in teams – to create newspaper table of at least 20cm tall which could hold a textbook – all teams managed!
Then we did some writing – the 100 word challenge.
After that we did Art – creating portraits using a range of mediums. After break we did some maths, working with our partners to play countdown followed by a logic puzzle. Well done to Joe and Finlay who solved it!
Thank you to all the parents who joined us – we hoped you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Moving Up Day into P1/2
After listening to the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff it was straight into some STEM challenges. The children had to start to build a bridge until they met up with their partner who was building towards them from the opposite side of the river. They could only choose 20 blocks each.
Then of course we had to make some goats and even a troll or two to go under the bridges!
And the final shot of the river with all those bridges, goats and trolls!
