Normally Term Four would see our P7s taking part in lots of transition activities, as well as preparing a Leavers’ Assembly, Yearbook and a trip to Voxter, before leaving; ready to head up to the Anderson High School after Summer.
However, this year’s P7s have had a very different experience with Lockdown. They have been working very hard during home learning to complete different transition activities. They worked online to create a yearbook full of memories from their time at Whiteness and on Friday 19th they had the chance to come in and say bye to their Primary school.
Our P7s came in and had some time to catch up with their friends (at 2m distance!), before watching the premiere of their Virtual Leavers’ Assembly. Each pupil prepared a video and there were messages from staff as well as photos from their years at Whiteness. You can watch the video here:
Next, P7 were given their yearbooks and signed their classmates’ books. They also started a special mural outside the school to mark this strange time. We’ll not show you that yet as other pupils will help to complete it when we get back to school.
Finally, after a quick Radio Shetland interview (which you can listen to here by skipping ahead to 20 minutes: https://www.mixcloud.com/BBCShetland/good-evening-shetland-friday-19th-june-2020/ ), P7 lined up outside the multicourt for a Celebration Drive By – the first P7s to ever have one at Whiteness. Lot of families from the school and members of staff drove by to wave and cheer on our wonderful P7s.
It was a special day which was enjoyed by all.
On Monday they had the chance to tour around the Anderson. Here is a photo of them around the school crest.
Well done P7 – you’re ready to go to the Anderson High School – stay in touch and visit us when all is back to normal! Good luck – we will miss you.
