STEM Challenge!

This week we did a STEM challenge. A STEM challenge is a team building exercise were you win one of our class trophies (only if you came in first).

This STEM challenge was a marble track. There were three teams (red, yellow and green)

The teams were Saoirse, Bobby, Isla and William on the yellow team. Mia, Livia, Andrew and Jensen on the green team. Grace, O-Jo and Merryn on the red team.

Every team had a landing spot the marble had to land on. You had to try and get the marble in the landing spot any way you could and you got extra points for how far it travelled.

We had creative freedom. You could build something around the landing spot or build nothing at all and just roll it yourself.

Finally, it was time to put them to the test. For the first roll if you got it on the landing spot you could win 100 points, for the second roll you could win 50 points but you could win an extra 25 points in you swapped the roller, and for the last roll you could win 25 points with an extra 25 points if you changed the roller.

At the end all the scores were added up and the yellow team just won.  It was very close!

We have all learned the importance of being a team player, listening to each other and solving problems together.

Classroom Economy

This week we have been setting up the classroom economy.

The class room economy is when we all have 2 jobs (a category 1 job and a category 2 job) Some of the category 1 jobs are: Class Assistant, Buddy Coordinator, Banker and Tech Monitor.  Some category 2 jobs are: Board Cleaner, Plant Caretaker and Time Table Displayer.

Mrs Emslie gave us coloured wallets to keep our money in and every one has a different colour. When we get payed we have to pay  rent and bills so it’s £20 for desk rent, £10 for chair rent, £3.50 for stationery, £6.50 for laptop hire, £5 for tray hire, £3.30 for water and £6.70 for electricity. We also have special privileges you can buy with your left over money.  Some are privileges are Homework Holiday, Toy Time, Seat Swap Special and many more.

We can earn extra money for doing our jobs really well, showing our school values and putting a lot of effort into tasks.

Me and Merryn are Class Bloggers for Term 1 so we will be reporting on our class learning.  We get paid £150 because it is a busy job!
