The aim is that all children in Scotland are given every opportunity to develop to their full potential to become confident, responsible, and productive members of society. To find out more about GIRFEC in Shetland click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shetland.gov.uk\/girfec\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Curriculum for Excellence<\/em>\u00a0refers to this as the\u00a0<em>Four Capacities<\/em>\u00a0which aim to enable every child to become a:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>successful learner<\/li>\n<li>confident individual<\/li>\n<li>responsible citizen<\/li>\n<li>effective contributor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In order to meet these goals, an agreed definition of\u00a0<em>wellbeing<\/em>\u00a0has been created. It is summarised in the\u00a0<em>Wellbeing Wheel<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SHANARRI<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2706\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/sh\/whitenessearlyyears\/files\/2021\/03\/SHANARRI12-300x283.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"283\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The acronym SHANARRI is formed from the eight indicators of wellbeing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safe<\/li>\n<li>Healthy<\/li>\n<li>Achieving<\/li>\n<li>Nurtured<\/li>\n<li>Active<\/li>\n<li>Respected<\/li>\n<li>Responsible<\/li>\n<li>Included<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of these wellbeing indicators are necessary for a child or young person to reach their potential.
