Yesterday Mrs Coyne, from Anderson High School, came to teach us some German. We were spelling in German, learning some numbers and practising different greetings and sayings.

Business Visitor

On the 1st of November a business man called Pete Dale came in to give us some tips and ideas for our business project. He also told us about what he started off with and how he changed a small amount of money into a huge amount of money.

The whole class really enjoyed Pete Dale coming into our class as it gave us all really good ideas and made us think a whole lot more about the financial side of business.

Getting Organised and Logo making

Today (Friday 27th October) we have been using the computers to make logos for our Micro-Tyco businesses. We had lots of ideas about what we could do to make money.

We’ve got folders for putting in all the ideas sheets that we’ve done or made. It’s helping our organisation skills.

Some of us have been finding it difficult to agree on decisions. It’s difficult to make sure everyone has a job to do. If we decide on jobs to do, things get done faster.

Thinking up ideas in our groups and designing our logos.

Micro-Tyco

Our project this term is charity fundraising. The charity is called Wild Hearts. We’re taking part in Micro-Tyco. We are creating businesses to raise money for Wild Hearts. The money we raise then goes to different countries to help poorer people start up their own businesses. People get a loan to start their business and then pay it back. The money then goes to someone else. This is called micro finance.

We are in groups of 4. Today we are making up logos, names and slogans for our groups.

Meet the teams…

World Wide Business – Bringing Business to Poverty

The Big Investors – Keeping Jobs Right Around the World

The Co-operative Charity – Lending a Helping Hand

Charity Fundraisers – Financial Support for the Less Fortunate

JLFI – Investing for Lives and Jobs

ACE – Amazing Charity Entrepeneurs

Jason and the Argonauts

Today we went to see a play called Jason and the Argonauts at the Bells Brae school. It was extremely funny and well set out. I liked when the wagon transformed into the huge paper boat. I loved the way they could remember every single letter. Their expressions were amazing. It was very well practiced. It was cool when they changed characters. They must have worked very hard.

Fencing

The Primary 6/7 class got an afternoon of fencing . The people that did it was Phil who is  a fencing coach and Niamh that was  on work experience. How we started off was we got the class spilt in half into groups . The gym teacher Mr Kirkness  took half of the class and Phil & Niamh took half the class. The group that had to do fencing went off and did a warm up of  jumping through  a ladder different ways. Once we had done that we all had to speak about being safe. Secondly we had to find a partner and help each other get suits on and masks. Once we had all finished that then we got to fight a partner and see who could hit the person the most. It was really fun!
