Creative Dancing

Over the past couple of weeks we have been working in groups to tell a story through dance. We came up with a story idea first and then used movement to bring them to life.

Once we had a routine we spent some time refining our dances to make them even more effective.

The story of Fortnite.

A story of puppets with a controlling puppet master.

The peace treaty among pirates.

A flower through the seasons.

Grease lightning.

From a computer game to the jungle.

Today a lady called Emma came into our class and taught us about plastic. She showed us a video about a plastic seahorse that was washed up to sea. We learned about micro beads and how harmful they can be. She told us about how plastic was found in bottled water in America.

After that we programmed our own lego robots in pairs. Emma gave us challenges to do with our robots such as picking up bits of lego and taking it back and making out robot move in a square.

We used the ipad to programme instructions like forward, left angle, straight, spin, raising and lowering the arms and use a sensor.

We learned more about what STEM means and what careers are available to us.

We all really enjoyed it and would love Emma to come back again.

Advertising

This morning we were looking at adverts and learning about how companies advertise. Some of the reasons companies advertise are for providing information, persuade you to buy a product or to promote a point of view.

We learned that sometimes the companies sneak in bits of information. These are quite small so that people won’t really pay much attention to them.

Adverts sometimes try to grab your attention by using things you’re interested in or start with strange things that make you wonder why it was in it.

I think learning about this is interesting and it will make me think about buying something first.

VCOP activity

  

Today we did an activity which included VCOP. 

We did this by using sticky notes and putting them on dice. We started witha boring sentence and using the die uplevelled it until the sentence got so good we could start again.

I used this as an example. 

1. I ate a sandwich.
2. I ate a BLT sandwich.
3. Suddenly I ate a BLT sandwich.
4. Suddenly I ate a salty BLT sandwich.
5. Suddenly I ate a salty BLT delicious sandwich.
6. Suddenly I ate a salty BLT delicious sandwich whilst making three scoops of ice cream.
7. Suddenly I ate a salty BLT delicious outstanding whilst making three scoops of ice cream.

I can see the benefit of using VCOP because the last sentence is much 
better than the first.
