Solar System Walk

Today we went for a walk to demonstrate the scale of the solar system. Everything was shrunk down so that the sun was the size of a ball. We couldn’t believe how small Earth was in comparison!

We walked between the planets to see how far apart they were. Some are closer than others. Mercury is only 10 steps from the Sun but we had to walk another 9 for Venus, 7 for Earth, 14 for Mars, then 95 for Jupiter, another 112 for Saturn, 249 for Uranus and finally another 281 for Neptune. This took us over the cattle grid!
