This week we were celebrating maths week with our buddies. We were doing different activities about maths with them. The different activities were log counting, this is were we had logs with dots on them and then they would tell us how many were on each one.
Another activity was were we 3D shapes and we would ask them what the the shapes were a lot of them just said squares and circles but some of them surprised us.
We also were counting out objects with them and putting them to the number.
On another table we had picture frames were they got outdoor things such as sticks, stones and sea glass and then we ask them how much they had on there picture frame.
On another table we had chess boards where they put counters on and also counted the squares and on the next table we had boards with the number 1-100 on it then we got counters with numbers on and they had to match the counter to the number on the board. As well on that table there was cars where they could count how many hearts or spades they are on them.
The last activity was units and tens blocks and what we had to do was we would take a hand full of units and tens and they would count as much of them as they could and then tell us the number. We all enjoyed it lots even though we were doing maths it was still fun.
We loved having the some of the children from Early Years in too.
