Those who continue their language learning in S3 and S4 receive a National award at N5, N4 or N3 level.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition, a weekly module in German language and culture is offered to pupils in S3 and S4.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Learning Experiences<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>By the end of S4, you will have developed the skills of <u>listening<\/u>, <u>reading<\/u>, <u>talking<\/u> and <u>writing<\/u> in French, to communicate about a range of topics in the following broad areas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Society<\/strong> \u2013 e.g. people, relationships; lifestyles, leisure; food, health<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning<\/strong> \u2013 e.g. school, studying, plans for the future<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employability<\/strong><strong> and citizenship<\/strong> \u2013 e.g. comparing jobs, work experience; money; practical situations (in shops, hotels, at work etc.); environmental issues<\/p>\n<p><strong>Culture<\/strong> \u2013 e.g. TV, films, books, music, people and places in French-speaking countries; Tasks are always tailored to their individual strengths and weaknesses.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They will be exposed to an increasing range of written and spoken material including e-mails, poems, songs, films, short stories, newspaper articles and news reports. These will be drawn from a range of Francophone countries. Learners will meet and be expected to use a wider range of language. A higher degree of complexity and accuracy will be expected as they progress. They will demonstrate increasing independence as the level of support is reduced and texts contain more unfamiliar language. They will use dictionaries and computers to support and enhance their learning.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend that all pupils should have access to a suitable bilingual dictionary to help them to do their homework satisfactorily and to prepare adequately for assessments in which they will use a dictionary.
