Local Opportunities Booklet for Senior Phase pupils & parents/carers

The Pupil Support Department of the Anderson High School organises a Local Opportunities Career Event each year for S4, S5 and S6 pupils across Shetland.

The purpose is to bring together organisations, a number of local businesses, education and training institutions that offer courses, training, employment and voluntary opportunities to young people. They hope to give pupils, parents and carers as much information as possible about local opportunities for destinations beyond school. This year the event was to be jointly organised with Developing the Young Workforce, but unfortunately they were unable to hold the event due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.

Instead, this booklet has been produced, which they hope will give pupils and parents/carers a stronger understanding of the different local options available, enabling pupils to make more informed decisions about their future.

There is also a page at the end of the booklet, which includes local employers who currently have vacancies.
