The polytunnel is going through a bit of a re-vamp at the moment. Raised beds are being replaced with new, more substantial wood and we were successful in a funding bid to Shetland Community Benefit Fund so the polythene is due to be replaced with polycarbonate sheeting.
The first new replacement raised bed is now in place. We have wood ready for one of the side beds too, but will wait until the new polycarbonate sheeting is on before working with that.
The apple and pear trees are full of blossom. The flowers haven’t opened up yet and hopefully the weather will be fair so it can survive while the cover is being worked and we get plenty of fruit again at the end of the year.
The last of the carrots were dug up and as always there were some frogs in the polytunnel. There is plenty of frog activity in the pond at the moment, so they should be able to find some friends there!
