The pupils advocating for Shoard spoke knowledgably about the history of the charity and the assistance it gives in the local community to people with special needs or undergoing medical treatment. They also referred to how Shoard had been affected by the fire earlier in the year and was working to get the charity shop up and running again in the aftermath. The pupils speaking for the Swan spoke about their own experience of a trip on the vessel and covered its strong local connections with Whalsay; a section which included an interview with the grandfather of one of the group who had been a crew member.
