Prince Pondicherry’s Castle

Primary 3/4 carried out an experiment to see which sweet would make a good castle for Prince Pondicherry.

They investigated whether marshmallows or liquorice could survive exposure to heat. Here are the before and after pictures.

We discovered liquorice could stand up better to heat, so it would be ideal to build a castle for Prince Pondicherry! We also discovered that melted marshmallows make very good glue! The children used the liquorice and marshmallow glue to make castles.

Numeracy – Measure

We have been learning about how people used to measure in the olden days – they used cubits (forearm), hand spans, finger lengths and strides. Today’s numeracy lesson has been about measuring things using non standard units. We have measured each other, the desks and windows in our classroom using our fingers, hand spans and forearms. We have also measured our feet and hands using blocks and counters.

Welcome Back

We had a had a busy couple of days, seeing old friends and meeting new friends. The class have been working hard and have produced some really lovely pieces of work this week.

This afternoon, during our STEM lesson, we made lava lamps. The children so engaged in their learning and they enjoyed seeing the effect of the chemical reaction!
