Position and Movement

For numeracy this term we have been looking at position and movement. We worked with compasses to find North, South, East and West. We have also looked at grid references and coordinates.

Today we used BeeBots to practise giving directions. The BeeBot is a programmable floor robot who follows commands such as forwards, backwards, left turn and right turn. We did lots of different activities using BeeBots. We had to programme them to find a place on a map, follow instructions to draw a 2D shape, and we drew our own maps with grids to allow Beebot to travel through a ‘magical island’ or ‘Ancient Egypt’.
