The Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee \/ The Queen\u2019s Green Canopy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Running concurrently with the Platinum Jubilee celebrations is The Queen\u2019s Green Canopy, a project to plant trees throughout the UK and Commonwealth.<\/p>\n

The Lord Lieutenant and Convener suggested that the two projects could be combined here by planting seventy trees in Shetland, one for each year of Her Majesty\u2019s reign and Helen Budge, Director of Children\u2019s services was keen for schools to be involved. We have been lucky to have 4 trees and a commemorative plaque erected in our garden during the Easter Holidays by the Shetland Amenity Trust, to mark the occasion.\u00a0 This will have both historic significance for future generations of children attending the school as well as being environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
