Gritter visits Tingwall Primary

On Tuesday we had a visit from Elaine and Richard. ย They came to show us one of the Council’s new gritters.

Erland – The yellow box in the cab controls the spinner at the back of the truck. ย They turn the flashing lights on to warn people they are putting grit on the road.

Alfie – The yellow box also controls the cameras at the back to see the grit to see if it is spreading out on the road.

Jared – The grit comes out of the spinner on to the road.

Cian – There was 3 boxes. There was salt in one, grit in the one next to it and the last one was salt and grit mixture.

Ruby – The salt melts the ice on the road.

Jenny – You need grit because cars don’t want to slip so it helps the wheels grip the road.
