We got to listen to a very interesting ‘Show and Tell’ today – a home-grown pepper!
“I growed it with my DaDa in Brae in his polytunnel. I started growing it in March. It was ready in September. It is at my house in the sun porch so it can keep growing. I have eaten 1 pepper in my tea. It tasted and juicy.”
Today we popped down to the Hall for a very quick visit to the purple Play, Talk, Read bus. We sang some songs and listened to a story about a shark, which fitted in nicely with our topic!
To celebrate Roald Dahl Day on Tuesday 13th September, we read ‘The Enormous Crocodile’. Over the past few days we have done some Maths, Language and Expressive Arts work linked to the story.
In drama this morning, the groups were given the challenge of acting out each of the 4 ‘TRICKS’ the craft crocodile tried to play on the children.
TRICK 1
Jared: The crocodile pretended to be a tree. He got leaves over him and holded coconuts and standed up. Humpy Rumpy the hippopotamus knocked him over and the children ran.
TRICk 2
Aimee: The crocodile pretended to be a see-saw in the play park. The children wanted to play on it. Muggle Wump the monkey said ‘Watch out!’ And they ran away from the croc.
TRICK 3
Casey: The crocodile was pretending to be a wooden animal on the carousel. Then the Roly Poly bird came and he gave a warning. The children ran away and the crocodile was getting hungrier!
TRICK 4
Jenny: The crocodile was a bench and the children were going to go on it. But the elephant came rushing in for a warning. He swung the crocodile around and around and he went flying up to the sun. He got burned up like sausage!
Primary 1 have been practising their fine motor skills and letter formation in our sand tray. They’re doing really well! 😊
What a lovely morning to be out for our Daily Mile!
Kiana: I like the daily mile because we can run and it makes me feel good.
Aimee: I like the daily mile because it keep keeps me healthy and fit.
We were all super impressed seeing this ‘Under the Sea’ picture this morning. He has spent a long time on his drawing, making it colourful and detailed. He got a big ‘WOWEE’ from the class 👏🏼🐟🐠🐳🐬🐡🐢🦀
“This is a shipwreck picture under the sea. It has vampire squid, sharks, sting rays, fishes, jellyfish, angler fish, divers and puffer fish. It took a long time to do. I’m happy with my picture because it’s neat and colourful and I’m proud of it.”
Our shipwreck now has 2 masts and the class are in the middle of painting it. Nearly there…they’re absolutely desperate to get in and start playing! There has been lots of pirate chat in the classroom these past few days and many hidden treasure maps have been drawn 🗝💎🔮🔎

“We were rolling the balls to each other. I did one side and he did the other so they wouldn’t crash into each other. I counted to 3 so we knew when to roll it at the same time.”
“We wre passing it to each other. I bounced it and she throwed it to me. I bounced it so the balls didn’t crash and go away. We figured that out!”
Getting changed for P.E doesn’t take long when the ‘Gummy Bears’ song is playing! 🐻
Work has begun on our shipwreck for our role play area! The boys were really getting into it with their pencils behind their lugs 😂
