Last Friday me, Ashleigh and Evan all went to Mareel to play in Young Fiddler of the Year. Ashleigh was on 4th she played The Headlands. Then we had to wait for ages because I was on 28th. I played Tartan Bonnets. Evan was on in the traditional section, He played The Boannie polka. After that they announced the finalists. I was so excited when they said my name for the finalists.I didn’t win anything but I got to stand on the stage. I really enjoyed young fiddler.

Show and tell
Over the past few days the children have brought in a few of their achievements, items they treasure or models that they have made which we would like to share on our blog.
Ashleigh’s certificate of distinction
A big well done to Ashleigh who not only passed her fiddle exam but passed with distinction! Ashleigh brought in her certificate to show the class, here she is with the copy we took of her certificate displayed in the classroom.
Fiddle
A few weeks ago I did my first grade fiddle exam I had to play 3 tunes, do some scales and arpeggios there was sight reading where you have to play a line of music. My teacher is Aimee Barclay from high level music in Lerwick.
Then 1week ago i got my results at 10 passed 9 at night and I passed with distinction which is the highest you can get I am getting my sertifficet tonight.
On Thursday the school had a instrumental concert I played my fiddle and ruby and Evan and brook played there fiddles to I played jingle bells.
Harry’s model plane
Harry brought in his model plane he made at home to show the class today. He had been looking at one of the books from our Library during ERIC in the mornings and saw pictures of differnet types of planes. He had mentioned wanting to make one and then received a kit to make one from Santa at the weekend.
