My highlights of p 4,5 is when we did dancing with miss Nicholson in P.E, and when we participated in the music festival, and baking and the main thing is having miss Nicholson as a teacher because she is the best teacher that I have ever had in my life time.

Having Miss Nicholson as a teacher!
Move up morning
On Wednesday the 8th we had a move up morning.
Move up morning is when we move up to the class that we will be in after the summer and meat our new teacher and class.
Some classes got to play games and others got to write a story or make a fact file.
Our future teacher is called Miss Sonders. (The spelling might be wrong)
It was very fun.

Coastguard visit
Today the coastguards came to visit us. There were two men that came, they were called Willie and Ian. We were split into two groups, one group stayed in the class with Ian to begin with whilst the other group went outside with Willie then after about 15 minutes we swapped. It was good fun outside, we got to pretend to be coastguards and save people. 3 people went out to pretend to be swimmers whilst one person was the coastguard going to save them. We had to put this life jacket on them, a helmet and attach a rope to them. Another person got to use the megaphone and shout to the people swimming to let them know they were going to be rescued. Once the ‘coastguard’ was safe to go he ran out to rescue the swimmers, once he gathered them all together as a group we pulled them back using the rope. We did this a few times so that everyone got a shot at doing something! It was great fun! Then we got to have a look around the coastguard pick-up. We sat inside and had a good look around, they had a lot of kit in the back. Willie asked us to stand at the front of the pick-up so we could see the flashing lights when he turned them on. He warned us that we might want to cover our ears as he then put the siren on…it was loud!! The group inside listened to Ian as he spoke about the coastguards. He was really funny. He told us a few stories about when it is appropriate to phone the coastguards. He also spoke about bombs! He showed us a few photos of ones that had washed up on beaches and told us stories about them and the dangers and that if we are ever unsure about anything on the beach then we should phone the coastguards! At the end Ian let us try on the coast guard hats, he had one for boys and one for girls. Nearly everyone tried them on, Willie even put the ladies hat on Miss Nicholson’s head! 🙂
SSPCA
Today Louise from the SSPCA came in to talk to us.
SSPCA stands for – Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. They are Scotland’s animal welfare charity. They rescue animals in danger or distress, find pets new homes, investigate abuse and prevent cruelty. They are the only charity in Scotland that helps all kinds of animals, including; domestic, exotic, wildlife and farm animals.
We watched several short video clips and then discussed them and what should be done and what they do.
The number for the SSPCA is 03000 999 999
Term 3
We have had a busy first day back! Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Teagan at the end of term 3 but we would like to welcome Morgan into primary 4/5! We will have to update our class photo now that we are all back.
We hope that 2016 is going to be a fun and exciting year for us in P4/5. This term we are going to be working collaboratively with Primary 6/7 with a joint topic on Space. We are very excited about this topic. We are also hoping to look into animation and make our own animations towards the end of term which we will try to upload onto here for you all to see!
The start of term 2
We’ve had a busy few days back at school, on Wednesday we watched newsround and discussed what we watched and debated whether we should or shouldn’t have wild animals used for entertainment purposes. We thought if they were being treated fairly and were being looked after then this would be ok as they usually take orphan animals or ones that cannot look after themselves. Then we shared a little of our news with the class before writing about our October holidays in our writing jotters. We had to draw a spooky Halloween picture and write a spooky short story about it. Some of us didn’t get to write the story as we had to go onto our reading. After dinner we made Halloween crafts – we will put another post up to show you all the cool things we made. It was great! On Thursday we had reading and maths in the morning, then music and class PE after break and in the afternoon we had French but this was linked to Halloween which was fun and we had to assemble a skeleton.
Friday 2nd of October
We did Newsround in the morning then we had art. We drew mythological creatures like Medusa and unicorns in Art. After break we did reading. My group read a book called William and the mouse. It was about a boy called William and his friend Hamid who had a pet mouse. We did our spelling test after reading. Before lunch we had Maths. We were doing subtraction. Some of us did a really hard sum. Then we had lunch. It was fish and chips with strawberry crumble. After lunch we did learning logs and some people finished off work. Then it was Golden Time. Some people made phones with paper cups and string. They actually worked!
Art, Music and P.E
We had Art with Mrs Hoseason on Thursday. First we were looking at other people’s work from different schools. Then we were doing Mind Maps about Myths and Legends because Mrs Hoseason wanted to see what we knew. Our Mind Maps had to be very colourful and exciting. I did a lot on my one and I think it was quite good. We also had Music with Mr Bennett on Thursday. We sang a song and then we played Categories. Categories is a game. I like playing Categories. After that Mr Bennett let us get the xylophones out. We played One Man went to Mow on the xylophones and then Merrily We Roll Along. On Monday we had PE with Mr McNiven. We were using bats and balls and we had to try and bounce the balls on the bats.
