Children In Need

Today the Pupil Council organised a Children In Need day. We had to wear a Super Hero costume or a onesie. Just about everyone in the school dressed up!

In the morning, we announced the winners of our superhero contest. Louise and Rebecca both won prizes. James guessed the teacher’s superhero logo “Super Tingwall Staff”.

We had a Bric a Brac sale and where we could buy lots of toys, books and games. Only a few things never sold. In the end we had to sell everything for 10p.

We made over £200!!

Our whole school – all dressed up!

Our winners!

In class, we discussed why it is important to help people. We came up with different suggestions of how we can help others then organised them in order of importance. All the groups thought giving money to charity was the most important. We also decided that helping others in class, helping with housework and looking after those who are hurt or ill were all important too.

We’d like to thank everyone who donated items for our bring and buy sale, and anyone who donated money. And everyone for dressing up!

Family Fun Night

On Thursday 25th September, we organised a fun night to raise money for the Tingwall Hall refurbishment. We had lots of different stalls such as Guess How Many Sweets, Play Your Cards Right, Guess Teddy’s Birthday, Tombola, Hook Football and many more!

We managed to raise £968.59. The treasurer from the Tingwall Hall came to collect the money and we presented her with a massive cheque!

Visit from Scottish Parliament

Welcome to our first blog post!

On Tuesday 7th October, we had a visit from Mr Clarke from the Scottish Parliament Outreach. He told us facts about the Scottish Parliament and how it happened. He told us things about Devolution. We got to answer questions and vote using a Powervote gadget.

We got into teams and elected a party leader. There were 6 different political parties: Sporty Party, Animal Welfare Party, Save the Earth Party, Computer Party, Music Party and  School Party. We had to create our party manifesto and promises, then the party leaders made a speech in the class. We then voted and the Sporty Party and Animal Welfare Party won!

We then debated about whether schools should be 4 days a week. Kyle was our Presiding Officer. He called out people to speak by saying “I call …..”. He banged his gavel at the end when the motion had passed.

We passed our law deciding that school should only be 4 days a week!
