Aztecs sacrifices

This week we did and learned about Aztec sacrifices.

We got to watch a video about the sacrifices and why they killed them, what for and when. After we got sheets about temples, sacrifices, after and why they did it,after we had to right it down on a piece of paper and share to our group.

I learned that fat, ugly, stupid, old and people with scars wouldn’t get sacrificed but healthy, good looking, fit, young people would get sacrificed and that they would sacrifice a person every day because they thought if they didn’t the sun wouldn’t come back up and that the god would destroyed the world.

I  thought it was stupid and sad why they sacrificed young healthy people every day.

JRSO – Road Safety Week

JRSO stand for Junior Road Safety Officers.

On Monday we went to Little Tikes. We made an obstacle for them and read them some Ziggy stories. We were teaching them about Road Safety.

We were teaching them about bright colours that you should wear in the dark and dull colours that you can wear in the daytime but not at night.

Today we handed out competition entries and reflectors for everyone in the school to wear!

Painting Props

On Friday the 21st of November we painted our props that we need for our Christmas show ‘The Stars Are Coming Out For Christmas’. Me and Chrissie painted microphones that we need in the play, other people painted stuff such as a guitar, a mince pie, brussel sprouts, gravy and christmas pudding as well as giant knives and forks! I enjoyed painting our props because it wasn’t hard and it was calming.

It was a Sister Act this week with both Ella and Maisie getting certificates!

Our Star Writer was Ella. She got her award for always having beautiful handwriting, which was one of her targets this term. Well done Ella!

Our Star of the Week was Maisie. She got Star of the Week for always helping out in class. She is always very helpful to the teacher and to her classmates. Well done Maisie!

Children In Need

Today the Pupil Council organised a Children In Need day. We had to wear a Super Hero costume or a onesie. Just about everyone in the school dressed up!

In the morning, we announced the winners of our superhero contest. Louise and Rebecca both won prizes. James guessed the teacher’s superhero logo “Super Tingwall Staff”.

We had a Bric a Brac sale and where we could buy lots of toys, books and games. Only a few things never sold. In the end we had to sell everything for 10p.

We made over £200!!

Our whole school – all dressed up!

Our winners!

In class, we discussed why it is important to help people. We came up with different suggestions of how we can help others then organised them in order of importance. All the groups thought giving money to charity was the most important. We also decided that helping others in class, helping with housework and looking after those who are hurt or ill were all important too.

We’d like to thank everyone who donated items for our bring and buy sale, and anyone who donated money. And everyone for dressing up!

Drama

This week we did Drama because we are practising our Christmas play. We learned our positions (in Drama they call it blocking) and we are going to make puppets for our show.

We did drama again on children in need day , we made frozen scenes (made a real life picture) and then someone  came back in the room and guessed what or where our scene was. Some scenes we created were running away from a volcano, a funfair, the Lion King and the Titanic sinking.

Drama with Izzy

We are practising our school play which is called “The Stars Come Out For Christmas” with Izzy. It is really fun being in a play because you get to play a part and speak and sing songs. My favourite song in the play is “Silent Night”. The part I play in the play is fan 1&7 . It is awesome to practise with Izzy because she is funny and really good at setting expression in her voice and always keeps you right!!!!! 🙂

Aztec gods

On Wednesday the 12 of November, we learned quite a lot about Aztec gods. Huitzilopochtli is the god of war, Tlaloc it the god of rain, Chantico is the goddess of fire and Patecatl is the god of healing.

After we looked at gods and goddess we made our own god or goddess it was really fun and colourful.
