How\u00a0will\u00a0this affect votes and what is projected to happen in the next general election?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the 17<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0of July\u00a02025\u00a0the UK government\u00a0publicly announced\u00a0that all 16- and 17-year-olds are now allowed to vote in Britain. This\u00a0will mean an\u00a0estimated\u00a0extra\u00a01.5\u00a0million\u00a0people\u00a0able\u00a0to vote! However,\u00a0approximately\u00a0half\u00a0of\u00a0those people do\u00a0<\/span>not<\/span><\/i>\u00a0want to vote\u00a0when a poll was\u00a0taken\u00a0by ITVX. Similarly, in SJHS,\u00a0S1- S3 did a vote on if we think 16 \u2013\u00a017-year-olds should be able to vote;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

5\u00a0said no, they should not<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

24\u00a0said yes, they should<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

9\u00a0decided not to vote<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So therefor at SJHS the\u00a0majority\u00a0of S1 \u2013 S3 think\u00a0that\u00a0yes16- to 17-year-olds\u00a0<\/span>should<\/span><\/i>\u00a0be allowed to vote.\u00a0Will everyone\u00a0under 18\u00a0vote? Will they\u00a0favour\u00a0a specific\u00a0party?It\u00a0will all\u00a0be\u00a0\u00a0found\u00a0out in the\u00a0next election! The\u00a0government has said that in the UK all 16 and 17 will be allowed to vote in the next general election,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One big question is<\/span>\u00a0why?\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0The UK government has been recently\u00a0making a lot of changes for a more inclusive UK. One of which is allowing people to vote from the age of 16 and up. The\u00a0youths of Britain have\u00a0been overall\u00a0very pleased\u00a0with the change as they had been pushing for it for a long time.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
