Learning Grid Week 7

Hi Primary 3!

Thank you for sharing your learning with me last week. You did a brilliant job with the highlighted activities.

Again, three activities have been highlighted on the Learning Grid. These are the three most important activities I would like for you to complete and share with me as a minimum. If you can do more than these three, even better!

This week, two of the highlighted activities have been set by me.  The other activity is Music and has been set by Ms Simpson.  Please share your evidence of my activities with me via the Class Notebook on Teams as usual. Please head over to the Teams Music Channel where Ms Simpson will share her instructions for her task.

For the tasks set by me, I will provide feedback on your learning next to your work in the Class Notebook. I will always type my feedback in a purple font so that you know it’s me! I will also provide some of my feedback in audio clips of me talking.  My feedback is usually found below, or to the right hand side of your work.

If you have any difficulties uploading your evidence then you can email me at gw18simpsonrebeccaam@glow.sch.uk .

If you are not able to share your key activities digitally then the school asks that these activities are dated and stored at home for sharing when school returns.

Please also don’t hesitate to be in touch if you are having any problems with the learning activities themselves. I am always happy to answer any questions and offer support with your learning.

If you are having trouble finding new items in the Class Notebook then the page may not have updated. Try the following two things to update the page:

Hit refresh within the Class Notebook

Click + Add Page within the Class Notebook
Adding a new page should update the notebook. It might take a few seconds for new items to appear after doing this.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Learning Grid Week 4

Hi Primary 3!

Well done to those of you who managed to upload work onto the class notebook last week. If you are struggling with this please let me know and I’ll see if I can help. Thank you to those of you who have emailed me work too. From what you have sent me I can see that you are adapting so well to this new way of learning. I’m very proud of you all!

Here is your Learning Grid for Week 4. It has also been uploaded to Teams.

Learning Grid Week 4 4th May-8th May

Learning Grid Week 3

Hi Primary 3!

Thank you so much for all your hard work last week. It has been brilliant to see the pictures and files you have been emailing me of your work. You are all doing so well.

This week could you try uploading evidence of your work to the Teams Class Notebook rather than sending it via email please? You can also type work directly into the class notebook to save you having to make separate files. I have included instructions on how to do this on the second page of the learning grid. If you are unable to upload to Teams then you can still email me.

Here is your learning grid for this week. It will also be posted on Teams. Thank you to all of you who have been answering the daily question on Teams. It’s great to hear from you and lovely to see you interacting with each other too.

Learning Grid Week 2

Hi Primary 3!

I have really enjoyed seeing the pictures you have been emailing me of your learning last week. I’ve seen some fantastic work. You are managing so well with this new way of learning. Well done to you all.

This week the Learning Grid will be posted here and on Microsoft Teams which you can find on Glow. The Learning Grid will be posted on the “General” channel on Teams. I will also be asking a daily question there just for fun that you can answer if you like. The daily question will be kind of like the morning warm up we usually do when we unpack our bags!

There is also a “Playground Chat” channel. This is a place for you to chat to your classmates, so we can keep the General channel for learning. Please remember to be kind, respectful and safe on this channel just as you normally would on the playground.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you all. As always, if you have any questions please drop me an email and I’ll be happy to help.

Here is your Learning Grid for Week 2.

Think Before You Have a Sugary Drink!

28th November 2019

We have been learning about healthy and unhealthy food. Today we learned what sugar does to your teeth. We did some research on sugary drinks. We read the labels to find out how much sugar was in each of them. After that we compared them and found out which was the worst for your teeth. We found out that water was the best and Coca-Cola was the worst of all!

Bread Experiment

26th November 2019

Today we started a science experiment about germs. We all passed around a piece of bread. We made sure everyone in the class touched it. We then put it in a zip locked bag. We have put another piece of bread that NO ONE has touched in another bag. We are going to wait and see what happens to the bread. We will find out more about what lives on our hands!

Estimation Game

20th November 2019

We have been learning about estimation in maths. Today we played a pairs game where we had to estimate the number of items in our tray. The player that got closest to the actual number gets a point. The winner was the person with the most points at the end. It was tough competition because we all did so well!

Internet Safety

18th November 2019

As part of our healthy bodies topic we have been learning how to keep ourselves safe. We have been learning how important is it so stay safe online. Morag Nicolson from the Shetland Library visited us and read us some great stories about how to stay safe online. Our top tips are:

“Always tell your parents what you are doing online.”

“Never bully anyone online.”

“If you see something that worries you online, tell an adult!”

Halloween Ghosts

31st October 2019

For Halloween we made some spooky ghosts with cotton wool. We were creative when using our materials. Some of us made bumpy ghosts by keeping the cotton wool in balls, some of us tore it up and some of us rolled it out. Our ghosts look great!

‘Two Eyes are Better than One’ Experiment

25th September 2019

We were experimenting with our sense of sight as part of our body topic. We learned about why we have two eyes and what the different parts of the eye are.

“We worked with a partner to test their eyes.”

“We played a game to see if one eyes was better than two or two eyes were better than one”

“We hovered a counter over a cup and the other partner covered their eye and had to say stop when they thought the counter was over the cup.”

“We also saw our partner get their pupils in their eyes bigger when they covered their eyes and took their hands away.”

“We learned if you have one eye it’s hard to tell where things are. When you have two eyes you can tell whereabouts the counter is.”

“It was fun and we got a score for how many counters we got in the cup.”

“We learned that two eyes are better than one.”

“If you think it looks fun then you should try it too!”

French Numbers Noughts and Crosses

24th September 2019

We have been learning the numbers in French. We have been practicing them by playing French Number Noughts and Crosses with a partner. We drew numbers on the noughts and crosses board and had to say the number in French before we could draw our nought or cross there.

Sense Walk!

18th September 2019

We have been learning about our 5 senses as part of our body topic. We decided to take our senses outside on a walk in our outdoor classroom! We went to the school wildlife area. We noted down what we could sense. We are now working on some fantastic poems!

Finger Gym Games

23rd August 2019

Before our swimming block started we had class teacher PE in the gym hall. We played lots of movement games. Before we went back to class we played some finger gym games with a partner. It was lots of fun!
