World Book Day
For World Book Day, each pupil teamed up with their buddy from Primary 7 to share a favourite book which was taken from home.

Odd and Even Numbers
The pupils have been busy identifying odd and even numbers. They all worked together to make an odd and even numbers paper chain.

Making Waffles
Ms Abernethy made waffles with a group of pupils from the class, which we all got to enjoy. The pupils who helped her with this activity, wrote a set of instructions on how to make the waffles.

Queen Elizabeth II
As part of our topic on famous people, we are studying Queen Elizabeth II. The pupils made a pattern using coloured gems for their crowns. We learned about the St Edward’s Crown, which was worn by the Queen at her coronation in 1953.

Telling the Time
This term, we have been learning how to tell the time for o’clock and half past using both analogue and digital displays. The pupils have played different games and have enjoyed sharing their learning with each other.

Class Teacher PE
This term, we are developing our basic ball skills and participating in team games. The pupils practised their football skills last week and everyone worked extremely hard.

Electrical Circuits
The pupils had great fun making a simple electrical circuit. We borrowed equipment from the Anderson High School which allowed us to connect wires to a battery in order to light a bulb.

Area
The pupils have been learning about area and enjoyed making different shapes using twelve multilink cubes.

Look at the variety of different shapes made using the same area.
The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark

This term’s topic is based on the novel, ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’ by Jill Tomlinson. The pupils are enjoying the novel study and are eager to find out if Plop overcomes his fear of the dark. They are also learning lots of interesting facts about barn owls. Grace visited an owl sanctuary in Cornwall during the summer holidays and brought in photos to show the class for her news.
Happy Birthday!

Liliana was delighted to receive her birthday certificate and wear the ‘Birthday Girl’ badge for the day.
Children in Need
We had great fun raising money for Children in Need by holding a cake and toy sale. Thank you to everyone who contributed. The pupils enjoyed eating the lovely cakes for their snack.
The pupils were very excited when Pudsey came for a surprise visit to the school. An amazing total of £869.00 was raised!

The Three Little Pigs
The pupils had fun building houses using straw, sticks and Lego. We tested the stability of each house using a hair dryer to represent the Big Bad Wolf. The pupils predicted what they thought would happen and were proved right.

Grace used the hair dryer and we saw how quickly the straw house blew off the table.

Sophia tested how strong the stick house was. It also fell down but not as easily as the straw house.

Alfie tried to blow the Lego house down using the hair dryer but it did not move at all.
Movement and Mime
The pupils have used their bodies creatively to act out parts of the Noah’s Ark story using the BBC Let’s Move radio podcasts. They have worked well with a partner and in small groups.

3D Shapes
We have been busy learning about 3D shapes this term. The pupils enjoyed building using 3D shapes during Fun Friday activity time. They have been learning about seven different 3D shapes.

Sharing Our News
The pupils listen very carefully when others are sharing their news. We enjoy seeing and learning about items which are taken from home. The pupils are becoming more confident when asking questions about what they have heard. We look forward to seeing what other interesting items appear in Primary 2A.

Special Day
Nikodem was delighted that it was his ‘Special Day.’

Every day a pupil is chosen for ‘Special Day’ which helps to promote wellbeing and builds self-esteem. The pupil chosen wears the ‘I am Special’ badge for the day and everyone in the class states why the pupil is special.
Fun Friday!
The class chose the adventure playground for the first ‘Fun Friday’ activity of the new term.

Look at our funny faces!
