JRSO

MEET OUR

JUNIOR ROAD SAFETY OFFICERS

This year Sound school is proud to introduce Lauri Siegel (6B), Isla Chapman (6A), AIden Hall (6A) and Kian Taylor (6B) as our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs).

ROAD SAFETY WEEK

This year the theme was Step up for For Safe Streets.

The JRSOs had the important job of making the school aware that Road Safety Week was happening.  They visited each class and provided worksheet activities and spoke about online games they could play to heighten awareness.  They also gave out reflectors to ensure every pupil will be seen on their way to school.

They helped present an assembly with Elaine Skinley.  They talked more about how children could keep themselves safe walking back and fore from school.  Outside our school is it very busy at certain times of the day and the safe place to cross is always where the lollipop man or lady is.

The JRSOs also had a brilliant opportunity to work with the police.  They got the chance to use speed guns on the main road outside our school.

In the area around our school there are so many traffic signs and markings.  It is important that drivers pay attention and pupils are aware.

BE SAFE, BE SEEN

With the dark nights closing in, our JRSOs were keen to promote dressing brightly to help us to be safe and be seen.  The whole school took part in a hi-vis vest deign.  There were loads of creative designs and it was very hard to pick the winners.

Congratulations to our winners:

Eve  (1B)

Sophia (2A)

Daniel  (3B)

Bryn  (4A)

Eilidh  (5A)
