Sound Primary School’s Eco-Committee is working towards earning an Eco-Schools Green Flag Award! You can keep up to date with our progress here!
Our Eco-Committee
Our Aims
We are aiming to earn a Eco-Schools Green Flag Award for our school. The first step to earning a Green Flag Award is forming a school Eco-Committee. Our Eco-Committee represents their classmates and will be working hard all year to make the school a more environmentally friendly place. We will be starting by carrying out an Environmental Review of our school.
We will meet weekly to carry out our Green Flag Journey. We’ll be keeping note of our meetings below.
Eco Committee Meetings
Monday 4th November
We have had our first Eco-Committee Meeting. Today we introduced ourselves discussed that our aim was to earn an Eco-Schools Green Flag for our school. We began to tackle the School Grounds section of our Environmental Review. We went out in groups to assess our school grounds and took notes on clipboards.
Monday 11th November
This week we decided to hold a Christmas Jumper bring and buy sale. We want to promote recycling in our school. Christmas jumpers often only get used a few times until you grow out of them. We want to re-use them instead of throwing them away. We have decided to give the money raised from the sale to Save the Children for Christmas Jumper Day!
Monday 18th November
We have been designing posters from the sale. We are doing our best to remind people to bring in their old Christmas jumpers! Here we are busy making our posters.
Monday 25th November
This week we gathered together all the jumpers for our sale. We are looking forward to raising money for charity. We also decided to have a lucky dip at the sale. This way if you can’t find a jumper from the sale that fits, you can still help the charity by playing our lucky dip!
Monday 2nd December
Our sale was a big success! We sold all our jumpers and raised £77 for Save the Children. Thank you to everyone who bought a Christmas jumper!
