The children in the nursery have been enjoying experiencing lots of maths activities in nursery this week.
On Wednesday morning we went for a walk around the Sound area to find out how shapes are used in real life in our local area.
We walked from the nursery to Seafield Avenue.
We put on our reflective vests and held our partners hand. We had to cross roads and we paid attention to the instructions.
We tried to spot 4 different shapes on our walk. We looked for squares, circles, triangles and rectangles. We used our shape spotters to check which shapes we found. Isla said “I’ve not got the triangle yet”.
We found lots of shapes painted on the ground. We found circles, triangles and rectangles. Louie said ” my door is a rectangle”.
We spotted rectangular and circular road signs too.
The windows and bricks were mostly rectangles, but we did find some squares.
We found a nice triangle on the back of a vehicle that we passed and also noticed that the trees that had been cut now had circles on the ends of their branches.
We enjoyed having our snack together at the Seafield pitch.
